The Emerald City Mandolin Quartet...

...was formed in 1996 by Alan Jacobson. Their distinctive tremolo approach to mandolin instrument family technique and interpretation blends the expressive concepts of the traditional Violin family string quartet with the sounds of plucked string ensembles comprised mainly of the Mandolin, Balalaika and Domra instrument families.

ECMQ's performances include: KING-FM's "Live, By George," with George Shangrow, KUOW-FM's "The Beat," with Dave Beck and Megan Sukys, 2005 Classical Mandolin Society of America annual convention. All veterans of the Seattle Mandolin Orchestra under Alan's direction, Alan Jacobson - First Mandolin, Andrew Booker - Second Mandolin, Ken Carlson - Mandola, David Stenerson - Mandocello, are accomplished musicians from very diverse backgrounds.
